A guide for Princeton locavores…

About

Great food speaks for itself but it cannot tell the whole story. We’re here to fill in the gaps, and tell you about food as a social, agricultural and personal activity that takes place right here at home in Central Jersey.

Real food is a complex, fascinating balance of flavors, textures and aromas, and at the same time an expression of the complex, fascinating balance between human life and nature.

We’re amazed by that which converges on our plates to a meal. It is not just the ingredients or the nutrients or the technique. It is also the soil, the seasons and the people. It is history, love, climate change…it’s everything.

We’d like to tell you why the sourdough from the Witherspoon Bread Company is unique to Princeton; How the texture of the zucchini carpaccio at EnoTerra captures a fleeting moment in early summer; How come the cheese at Cherry Grove Farm holds the energy of the sun and the beef at Simply Grazin’ the minerals of the earth.

We want to give you a taste of place, to introduce you to those who bring about your food: the farmers, the purveyors, the cooks. Through this blog we would like to foster a sense of community, to help us all appreciate that food is the ultimate connection to each other and to our place.

Princeton Eats was founded by a group of Princeton University students while on internship at Terra Momo  and is sponsored by Terra Momo Restaurant Group.
